History

When France began to have problems and famine and unemployment among the poorest classes was at it's worse, people began to flee their country to take refuge in Canada.

Even with famine and people dying not many people chose to migrate.

About 15,000 Frenchemen and Frenchwomen sailed for Canada in the seventeenth century, and two thirds of them stayed in the colony for a short period and either returned to France or died in Canada without getting married.
